I want to set up Wi-Fi in my business. What should I do?
First contact an Internet service provider, like Xiber, that can really consult with you to look at your business, layout, and traffic. Choose one that can suggest the proper equipment and placement, or manage the whole process for you.
What is latency or ping?
Latency, or ping response time (measured in milliseconds), is the time it takes your request for information to travel to a service provider, like AWS, Microsoft, Netflix, PlayStation, or Zoom, and back to your computer. This is the dirty secret that most Internet service providers don’t want you to understand. Even though they claim high speeds like Gigabit, their legacy networks actually cause your Web pages, documents, and email to load slowly and your video conferences and streams to break up. Their old school networks are so congested and complex with long distance connections and old copper wiring (even though they say they are fiber), that their latency averages in the high dozens or even hundreds of milliseconds. Xiber’s superior delivery method for Internet service and next-gen network design results in latency in the single digits of milliseconds, nearer to full light-speed.
What is the difference between fixed wireless, fiber, and broadband Internet?
Xiber uses the most efficient and fastest pathway to deliver you Internet. When called for, Xiber uses lightweight and small footprint fixed-wireless point-to-point radios between towers and rooftops near or at your business that communicate using parts of the radio frequency (RF) spectrum licensed to us by the FCC. These high-capacity (multi-gigabit capable) radios allow information to travel very near the speed of light with virtually no RF or weather interference. Our network also relies on fiber-optic connections from a data center to the radios, from radios to your network, or sometimes directly to your network from the data center, whichever will result in better service to you. These methods are deployed together to give you “Broadband” Internet, which, for Xiber, means very high speeds from 100 megabits per second (Mbps) to 1000 Mbps or beyond, both upload and download.

Yes, fixed wireless Internet connections employ the same level of encryption and security between endpoints as data sent over wired copper or fiber-optic connections.
Does Xiber offer Internet service to apartments or multi-dwelling units (MDUs)?
Absolutely! MDU is HUGE for us and is a primary service line. We currently serve nearly 7,000 MDUs in 40 projects in over a dozen states. Recent trends show that apartment living is on the rise. And according to the 2020 NMHC/Kingsley Associates Apartment Residential Preference report, the largest multifamily report ever done, the vast majority of residents not only want internet service, they want it everywhere. By the pool, in the common areas, in the lobby, in the gym, etc. And in fact, many of them also want pre-installed Wi-Fi. This makes connectivity an extremely important selling point for your building.
